That's why we provide every child and caregiver that are part of footsteps the footsteps 'learn' programme, to ensure they are receiving outstanding support, advice and ideas from a qualified early childhood education (ECE) teacher. We have over 10 years experience providing this service and are the only home-based service in Aotearoa New Zealand that has full coverage of teachers/kaiako throughout the country. This reflects our passion and dedication to helping every tamaiti learn - after all, 85% of their brain develops before school.
Here are some of the great features of our learning programme:
Fully funded (from birth to school age)
footsteps is licensed and funded by the Ministry of Education which means we are able to provide the footsteps 'learn; programme at no cost to children, families or caregivers.
Oustanding 1:1 support
We tailor our support to the needs and interests of the child’s/tamaiti and caregiver/kaitiaki to offer new ideas on learning that are real and part of everyday life.
Regular home visits
We know that children/tamariki learn best in a safe, familiar and nuturing environment. To discover more about the benefit of in-home learning, click here.
Free Learning resources
We provide developmental resources such as books, puzzles and educational toys designed around a child's/tamaiti interests and abilities. We even create natural resources made from the world around us. For some examples of the types of learning resources we create, click here.
Learning journal, photo stories and WOW moments
We create a folder to capture a child’s/tamaiti achievements and memories as they progress through the footsteps 'learn' programme. Unlike other home-based services, we write our learning stories so the caregiver can focus on the job they love - caring for children. It is also a great way to understand they are developing so you can share those unique and special moments with others.
Qualified ECE Teachers
All of our teachers\kaiako are specially trained to work with pre-school children with either a Degree or Diploma in Teaching and Learning. This enables them to provide a professional point of view on your child’s/tamaiti development.
Based on Te Whāriki - the Ministry of Education's ECE curriculum
We use the different strands of the curriculum to create an individual learning programme tailored to your child/tamaiti and caregiver's/kaitiaki needs and interests.
Get ready for school
We have created a specific 'transition to school programme' to help your child/tamaiti settle quickly and start enjoying the next exciting challenge that lies ahead.
