Infant Brain Development

Did you know 85% of a child's brain develops before school age?

Few people know that by the time a child/tamaiti has reached school, 85% of their brain will have developed. This means that the quality of your child's early learning experience from birth to school age is the most important stage of all. That’s why we do everything we can to give your child/tamaiti the best start in these crucial early years.

Research has shown that a child's/tamaiti brain starts developing right from birth and is provoked by the frequency and intensity of different learning experiences. Providing high quality early learning from birth builds a child's/tamaiti capacity to learn and grow, and establishes a strong foundation for later academic achievement and a life full of success.

We strongly support the Brainwave Trust's view that "a child's experiences from conception to three years old largely determines how their brain develops and whether they will become a capable, contributing, well adjusted adult". We have a strong relationship with the organisation and use their latest neuroscience findings in our staff professional development and training programmes to ensure the knowledge they pass on is used positively in the work that we do with our children/tamariki.
