In-home benefits
Why is home-based the best for your child?
We want the best for your tamaiti (child), just as you do. That’s why we want to help you understand why we believe home-based childcare and education is the best option.
Research has shown that tamariki (children) who receive nurturing care and individual attention from a consistent caregiver, especially in the infant and toddler stage are able to create more secure attachments – the key to healthy development.
Home-based early childhood education provides tamariki with multiple environments where they can learn and develop through everyday occurrences. The environment, resources and happenings allow them to engage in what is real and of interest to them. It also means lower ratios, allowing the day to be structured around the tamaiti, rather than the adults' or centres' set schedule. It enables tamariki to feel safe and secure because routines can be maintained in the comfort of familiar surroundings.
Homebased doesn't mean tamariki should be isolated
When we say home-based childcare and education, we don’t mean that tamariki should be isolated - quite the contrary, we believe tamariki learn best when part of a community while still enjoying the benefits of an individual life affirming relationship. So it is as much about using the home environment as it is interacting with the community through parks, playgrounds and music.
Our home-based curriculum gives tamariki the opportunity to be curious, explore, trust, and become confident. This is what early learning is about, not ‘educational materials’ or ‘set activities’. Home-based wants tamariki to develop by doing, exploring and finding out for themselves in a natural – not a manufactured environment that you might experience in a centre. This will ensure that they have the best possible platform to grow up as capable and confident learners.
