Find an in-home caregiver

Why choose Footsteps?

At Footsteps, we believe every child/tamaiti is different and so are we! Our Early Childhood teachers/kaiako are passionate about supporting your pre-school child/tamaiti and caregiver to go on an amazing learning journey. That’s why we offer outstanding 1:1 support, advice and resources to inspire life-long learning. We have a range of in-home caregivers all over New Zealand to help you find an in-home arrangement to suit your needs.

We offer outstanding 1:1 support

We believe you can only offer great childcare when everyone is getting the support they require and deserve. That’s why every Footsteps child and caregiver receives regular visits from a qualified early childhood education teacher, to nurture your child’s talents and inspire life long learning. You can find out more about the Footsteps ‘learn’ programme here.

We have a policy of ‘no admin fees’

Hidden costs are often the case when it comes to childcare. We believe in keeping things really simple and easy for our families and caregivers. That’s why we provide agreements and care plans to guarantee the relationship between you and your caregiver is a happy one. Also, we do not charge placement fees should you need to find another caregiver in the future.

We help you access financial support

We are an approved Work and Income provider and can help you access the government childcare subsidies you are entitled to. One of our key differences is that we do not charge to administer subsidies like some other home-based services.

We create a Learning Journal to capture memories

Lots of childcare services expect their caregivers to create these, which means they often get distracted from the job in hand. At Footsteps, we believe this is the teachers/kaiako role, so they are able to provide professional insight and include learning recommendations on how to further a child's development. You can view our Learning Journal here.

We put your child's safety first

Footsteps are the first and only early childhood organisation in New Zealand enabled to train its own staff in child protection, certified by leading child protection service Child Matters. This reflects how importantly we view your child's safety, giving you peace of mind that we really care about the welfare of your child, and all children in New Zealand.
