Footsteps Education is a nationwide organisation providing home-based education and care for children from 0-5 years of age.
For over 14 years our qualified early childhood teachers have partnered with educators, nannies/au pairs, grandparents and whānau carers to make a significant difference in the future of the children we care for.
Our child-first learning programme is designed as a one-on-one experience; crafted around the things that each child loves to do so that learning can be fun and rewarding. It is designed to add to the everyday play and routine of the child, providing useful knowledge, support and resources for families and educators.
We are investing in the future; future focused, cause driven and motivated. The strength of our connected relationships with other organisations, along with our ‘child first’ philosophy, mean that the ripples we generate touch many lives and aid in growing communities.
Through the process of play, in the home environment of your choice, we help to develop abilities and prepare children for the journey to school and into the adult world.
Footsteps Education is licensed and funded by the Ministry of Education, which means we are able to provide our early learning programme at no cost. We can also offer assistance in accessing subsidies including the Work and Income Childcare Subsidy and 20 Hours ECE.
Through our nationwide network, we are also able to assist in matching parents, carers and community support groups. So, if you are looking to work with Footsteps, find a home-based care solution or enrol a child with Footsteps Education Aotearoa, please contact us today.
We advocate home-based early learning and understand how important it is for children to be cared for in a safe and nurturing home environment where they have the opportunity to explore.
Low ratios in home-based care enables one-on-one interaction and care for children. It also means they are less likely to be exposed to illness, giving parents peace of mind.
Our qualified early childhood teachers are equipped with essential tools and knowledge to listen, value and support your chosen educator or carer.
Educators receive regular resource ideas and training in early childhood development to support them in their role and ensure the children they care for learn the skills and confidence needed to build a happy, healthy future.
Child First Learning
At Footsteps Education Aotearoa, we recognise that the first five years of a child’s education and development are the most crucial for the best start in life. We proudly and authentically put the child at the centre of everything we do. Further to this our educational programme enables and champions children’s first steps of learning and development – we call this ‘child first learning’.
A good foundation in the early years makes a difference through adulthood and affects generational change in families and communities. We believe early childhood development is a cornerstone of human development, and view efforts to improve early childhood education and development as an investment, not a cost.
Together with parents, educators and other like-minded organisations in the community, we have the influence to be child-learning champions and path changers.
Footsteps Education and the Footsteps Foundation choose to prioritise early learning and development because the cost of inaction has a destructive impact on society.
Science has demonstrated that early childhood interventions are vital as they help mitigate the impact of adverse early experiences which if not addressed lead to poor health, poor educational attainment, economic dependency, increased violence and crime – all of which add to the cost and burden in society.
